De La Samples

I was listening to De La Soul's debut album THREE FEET HIGH AND RISING, over the weekend. Like The Beastie Boys PAUL'S BOUTIQUE album, this project is full of sample heavy hits. This morning we explored the track Eye Know...This song has a whopping 6 samples in it. WHEW! Here we go...The song begins with this sample from the Mad Lads...Then throw in some drums from Sly and the Family Stone's SING A SIMPLE SONG...We then sprinkle in some whistles from the soulful Mr. Otis Redding...Whirl in some cool keys from Patrice Rushen's Remind Me....Then add two part's Steely Dan... FMand for the chorus we throw in some PEG.A great recipe for a great song!
