Moondog on the ones and twos

A new year, and a new 7 O Clock sample. I wanted to look at some of my favorite samples of 2009, and I came across this track by Jesse Rose that I heard several times this year..."Night At The Dogs" is a track that was on Jesse's 2009 album WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU DONT.I knew I'd heard this track before, and I realized it was this cool little ditty by my favorite Ninja Tune artist MR.SCRUFF."Get A Move On" is form his album KEEP IT UNREAL.Both of these amazing dance tracks come from an amazing artist by the name of MOONDOG. Moondog was the pseudonym of Louis Thomas Hardin, a blind American composer, musician, cosmologist, poet, and inventor of several musical instruments. He made his home on the streets of New York for approximately twenty of the thirty years he spent in the city. He could be found on the streets of New York wearing clothes he had created based on his own interpretation of the Norse god Thor. Because of his unconventionale outfits, he was known for much of his life as "The Viking of 6th Avenue".The infamous Viking, was well known to many of the jazz musicians of Manhattan and he recorded a number of albums throughout the 60s and 70s, including this great number in 1969.
