Toni Tornado takes off with N.A.S.A.

Today's 7 O'Clock Sample takes us down to Brazil. Last year we featured on of my favorite albums of 2009, THE SPIRIT OF APOLLO by N.A.S.A.N.A.S.A. is a hip hop indie music duo, consisting of L.A.-based producers Squeak E. Clean and the brazilian DJ Zegon. N.A.S.A. stands for North America/South America and, in addition to the two principles, includes approximately three dozen other artists from both coasts of the U.S. and abroad. The two teamed up with some of my favorite artists on this album, including this cut with KRS ONE, and Fatlip & Slim Kid Tre of Pharcyde.Where is that funky loop from? Well my guess is that Zegon had this record in his crates...Toni Tornado is associated with the Black Power movement in Brazil (the English phrase was actually used -- even today, someone sporting an Afro here is referred to as having "cabelo Black Power.") There ya have it!
