"Make Milwaukee": The Milwaukee Rep | Gerard Neugent and Elizabeth Ledo

Listen: As promised earlier this week, more interviews from the Rep! In these pieces, we get a little window into the lives of the actors behind the characters. A few weeks back, I went down to the wonderful Repertory Theater ( you can hear the tour we did last year here) and chatted with a few of their charming actors.

Elizabeth in Almost, Maine

First, meet Elizabeth Ledo, an actor based in Chicago who, amongst other things, recently made a guest appearance in the Rep's production of Almost, Maine. (By the way, if you needed any extra motivation to listen, she has an amazing voice.) -Over the course of these pieces, we've heard a wide variety of answers to "What is it like to be an actor?" Elizabeth on her life as an actress: -Elizabeth on what she loves about live theater: -What does an actress do when her mind goes blank on stage? Elizabeth on that moment of terrible panic: -See Elizabeth above? Would you peg her as a sports fan? Like the doo wop music beds? I think the pairing worked really well.

Gerard on stage!

Meet Gerard Neugent, one of The Rep's wonderful resident actors. And while he's an incredibly talented performer, Gerard may not strike you as an actor when you first meet him. What do I mean? Take a listen. -Gerard's first words after my first question were, "When I was 11 years old, I'm from Des Moines, Iowa, and I wanted to be an actor and live in Milwaukee. That was my dream." Really? -Did you know that Milwaukee is well-respected nationally as a theater town? You don't have to take my word for it -- Gerard on Milwaukee's theater scene: -Over the years, Gerard's life in Milwaukee has evolved. Gerard on life from college forward: -In many cities, having an acting career and a family are basically incompatible. Gerard on how having a family works out for him in Milwaukee:

Over the course of this campaign, I've had a chance to see a few shows at the Rep and their quality consistently bowls me over. And they're right here in Milwaukee, all the time! Learn more about the Rep here .
