"Meet The Need": Day 15 of 50 | Destiny Youth Plaza

Listen: On Day 15 of 50, we feature the Destiny Youth Plaza as we kick off a week that's devoted primarily to groups working with youth. When taking a closer look at the picture of need, we see that throughout a life, one's ability to provide for oneself changes. In this week, we take closer looks at teenagers -- a group that haven't reached the self-sufficiency of an adult, but are aging out of the complete dependency of youth.

Johnnie Morris from the Christian Faith Fellowship Church and Destiny brings us inside the Destiny Youth Plaza:

-In this first piece, we hear the origins of Destiny -- the story of a community asking not "What can we do about these troubled youth?" but rather "What can we do for them?"

-A young man helps get in control of his life with the help of the caring and committed help of Destiny High School:

-Teenagers, regardless of where they are in life, tend to want a lot more than they need. That's natural. If the kids are willing to seriously set a goal, Destiny will help them get there:

-Some volunteer opportunities are small and momentarily intersect with your life -- others can have a long and meaningful impact on both your life and those you help. Destiny looks for individuals willing to open up their homes to the children of families in crisis:

This year, we ask you to adopt one or two organizations that connect with you. Want to get involved with Destiny Youth Plaza and Destiny High School? Donate, volunteer, or check out their work yourself. And you can start with their website.
