Listen: On Day 38 of 50 in Meet The Need, we're lucky enough to meet some of the women from St. Catherine's Residence. St. Catherine's offers safe, affordable, and supportive housing to women with limited income who have diverse talents and needs, aspiring to maximize their personal growth and employment opportunities.
When Lynne Oehlke, Executive Director of St. Catherine's Residence, thought about the best way to explain what goes on at their residence center, she thought to herself "What better than the women who live there?" And you know what? She was absolutely right -- Ruthia and Martha, the two residents who came with her, were an absolute treat to meet and get to know a little bit (you can do the same below!).
-In this first piece, Lynne introduces us to St. Catherine’s, first describing how you’d approach on a summer day (we could all use a moment to escape to warmer days, right?) and then introducing us to the women who live there:
-Meet Martha. She moved into St. Catherine’s residence 9 months ago, her first experience living independently. For her, this major step began as an experiment:
-Meet Ruthia. Facing some major challenges in her life, Ruthia came to St. Catherine’s not intending on settling in. However, her time there has helped her find her purpose:
