"Meet The Need": Day 45 of 50 | The United Way of Greater Milwaukee

Listen: On Day 45 of 50 in Meet The Need (it's our last Thursday!) we spend the day with United Way of Greater Milwaukee. Shepherding dollars from thousands of community donors annually, United Way invests strategically in 80 plus partner agencies working with what they view as the three building blocks for a successful life – health, education, and income.

I'm sure you're familiar with their name and work -- the United Way is so present in the community, they're hard to miss. That being said, in these pieces we get a little deeper into their philosophy and motivation with Vice President of Community Impact Nicole Angresano:

-First, Nicole explains their focus on health, education, and income -- interestingly, she paints a picture connecting basic needs to higher level human needs in a way very similar to the way we've been doing in Meet The Need:

-Next, Nicole discusses the idea of "community" and ties it to their work at United Way -- again, in pointing out the interconnectedness of the Milwaukee community, she does a wonderful job of pulling together many of the themes we've seen in this campaign:

-Earlier this month, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee surpassed its fund raising goal in their 101st Community Campaign -- not bad at a time when national charitable giving has suffered. Nicole responds:

-With over 80 partner agencies, United Way has no shortage of volunteer opportunities to connect you with:

This year, we ask you to adopt one or two organizations that connect with you. Want to get involved with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee? Donate, volunteer, or check out their work yourself. And you can start with their website.
