Poppin Mardi Gras With Some Country Jambalaya

Hank Williams Sr. "Jambalaya"

Our Mardi Gras Moments continue into a new week with a different flavor of music. Last week, we brought a bunch of party favorites, both new and old and this week kicks the series into a new gear: food. Which is good cause I'm always hungry. And when it comes to Mardi Gras you bet food is a big part.

New Orleans is famous for its cuisine and has no short order of songs to celebrate the culinary particulars of their creole culture. We'll be getting into a few songs like the one I had today, songs all about some particular dish. The countrified flavor of Hank WIlliams the elder is all over this version of "Jambalaya" that is our Mardi Gras Moment for Monday.

Of course, if this week sets you stomach to rumble, you can always save some room for the food at the Fat Tuesday Party 88Nine is having at Turner Hall March 8th. Mucca Pazza, one of the best brass bands I know of is headlining and we'll have some fo'real food from Maxies Southern Comfort
