Girls and women are often not provided educational opportunities in science, math, engineering and technology. These fields are often seen as traditionally male domains, but Bernell Hooker, founder and CEO of Images of Us Sports (IOU Sports) sees things a little differently. Her organization, along with UWM provides young women in the Milwaukee area access to science education through a program called STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) which connects careers in science to sports; thus, providing a bridge for young women to athletics AND its connection to science careers.
