Part of who I am is my cultural identity as a Jew, and although I am not a "practing" Jew, I do like to be involved in the amazing things happening within the Jewish community here in Milwaukee. So, it was with great pleasure that I met with Mark Shapiro, Executive Director of the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, and Lisa Elias, Marketing and Community Outreach Manager of Gilda's Club Southeastern Wisconsin.
Mark, Lisa, and I sat down at the JCC to talk about his recent honor as the recipient of the Lee Kass Cancer Support Community Philanthropic Award, as well as the JCC's opening of their "red door" to Gilda's Club, whose original location was destroyed in last year's floods.
The partnership between these two organizations touches the lives of not only those individuals and families dealing with cancer, but also those in the Jewish community and beyond, who welcomed Gilda's Club and its members with open arms.
