About a week ago, I shared with you the new Florence + The Machine song "Shake It Out" from their forthcoming album "Ceremonials." I aslo mention that Toronto's The Weeknd will be remixing that same tune.
For those who are unfamiliar, The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye’, has garnered a huge amount of press for his mixtapes * "House of Balloons" and most recently *"Thursday." "House of Balloons" have already made a lot of people's best of 2011. "House of Balloons" is so good that it was even nominated along with fellow Canadians Arcade Fire for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. This nomination was achieved without and label backing. In my opinion, The Weeknd is the shot in the arm that modern R&B needs right now.
Now signed to Drake's label, The Weeknd preps for a proper release. While you wait for that, check out The Weeknd's official remix of Florence + The Machine's "Shake It Out," which was aired on Zane Lowes BBC Radio 1 Show. The single and remix will be available in early October. * (note: lyrics on both mixtapes are not meant for children)
