Technically Yours, Prescreen.com Let's You Host Your Own Personal Film Festival

The 2011 Milwaukee Film Festival is about halfway complete.  Over 170 award-winning, and critically films will be screened by the time the the festival closes it's curtains on October 2nd.  For some, the film festival should go year around or at least longer  than two weeks.

A new site called Prescreen aimes to allow you to have your own "personal film festival" 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Just like Pandora calls itself a social music discovery site, Prescreen wants to be the social movie discovery site for movie and film buffs. The site gives independent filmmakers another channel for distribution, which is easier than the tradtional route.  Using Prescreen is easy.  Once you get to the site and sign up, which registration is free,  you get to choose from a limited amount of films to rent.  The films are constantly changing, and each film is only available to screen for 60 days. You have 48 hours to watch the film you rent. Most films rent at $4.

Just like any other social site, you can share what you are watching with your Facebook or twitter buddies.  You can even earn rewards and discounts by sharing. In addition to sharing features, Prescreen created feature called trendspotting, where one gets rewards and points for being ahead of the curve and supporting a film.

Currently, Presreen is accepting submissions from filmmakers. There is no out-of-pocket costs for a filmmaker.   Filmmakers even get access to viewing statistics such as age, gender, location, etc.

There all types of films genresincluding documentaries, dramas, and comedies.  Films such as "Put Up Your Dux," which is a documentary about the true life story of world-renowned marital artist Frank Dux.  The 1988 movie "Bloodsport" featuring is based on Frank Dux.
