The voice of the river is being heard by these three women: Anne Brummit, Cheryl Nenn, and Jeanne Salmon--all members of the Milwaukee River Greenway Coalition. Their mission: protect the river(s) in the Milwaukee area, and expand accessibility to these rivers via an urban park, replete with indigenous flora, walking and hiking paths, canoeing, fishing, bike trails; basically, an escape from the city WITHIN the city itself.
I met with Anne, Cheryl, and Jeanne at their offices and got the dirt on trail-building and maintenance, the planned opening of an arboretum, and the future of the Milwaukee River.
