How does one, " Rock the Green?" Well, I found out. I went to Milwaukee's first near-zero waste musical festival, and let me tell you, it was by far the cleanest music festival I've ever been to.
I asked several community members as well as sponsors attending the event, what they thought Rock the Green was all about. Here are some neat things I discovered.
*Everything at Rock the Green is either recyclable or compostable.
*Rock the Green was powered by a combination of 100% B20 biodiesel generators, solar and bicycle power. Cool, right?
*The event keepsakes included gently used tee shirts and tote bags made from upcycled sail cloth. Food vendors used ingredients from local farms and co-ops and all vendors will used compostable serveware.
*No plastic water bottles were sold. Upon entering, everyone got a BPA-free, reusable water bottle and there were free, fresh water stations using municipal water throughout the event.
