The International Learning Center is where volunteer tutors and service-learning students provide English as a second language to over 5,000 African and Southeast Asian adult refugees. The center has been working hard since 1981. Most of these refugees have had little to no education in their own country, so ILC helps give literacy and communication skills for those in need.
I spoke with Program Manager Anna Bierer along with a fantastic student, about the center and its ongoing needs. The center is always looking for clothing, household items, school supplies, computers, and/or bikes.
