Girls on the Run of Greater Milwaukee is part of a larger cause, Girls on the Run International. It’s an organization dedicated to inspiring girls to be healthy, confident and happy through a creative running program. The program is a 12-week, 24-lesson experience where girls have the opportunity to develop self-esteem and stronger bonds through the others around them. The girls do all of this while training for a 5k race.
There are two specific programs: Girls on the Run for girls in grades 3 through 5 and Girls on Track, for girls in grades 6 through 8.
Race Director Sheila Wordell and soon to be president Stacey Meyer, stopped by the Radio Milwaukee studios to talk about their upcoming 5k race for Girls on the Run. To hear about it, click the podcast below.
