Andy Kochanski sports a killer mustache and hosts a killer Polka night at Kochanski's Concertina Beer Hall. I discovered the place last autumn, when I went to witness a battle o' the bands and take in the sights of an historic tavern that truly MAKES Milwaukee.
For part one of a two-part story, I spoke with local concertina players who waxed philosophic about the difference between a concertina and an accordian, their love of polka, and what it is about Kochanski's that makes it a true Milwaukee cultural icon.
