Diverse and Resilient is a nonprofit organization that focuses on creating a healthy environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people throughout Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin. Diverse and Resilient strives to remind individuals, groups and communities at large to take action and they do this in a variety of ways.
One such way is through a program called “Acceptance Journeys”. This program is designed to end anti-gay and anti-transgender discrimination, which is the key to health and well-being. You might already be familiar with Acceptance Journeys. The project has displayed words, faces and names throughout the city. These are stories told by people in Milwaukee about their love and support of a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender person. Stories vary from relationships with parents, children, friends, pastors, neighborhoods, co-workers, aunts, nephews, customers, the list goes on.
