Word's out that rapper Snoop Dogg has teamed up with ex- MIA producer Diplo to work on an all-reggae album set for release sometime this year. Apparently, Snoop, who'll release the album as ' Snoop Lion,' is expanding his arsenal and the new album will feature the long-time rapper as a singer, and if the single leaked late week is any indication, it sounds like less of a reach than one might think.
This self re-envisioning follows remarks the rapper has made to the press claiming that despite being 11 solo albums into his career, his fans have yet to see the real him, but he hopes that will change with his next record. Clearly excited by the opportunity, Snoop sounds dope on this single and with it, has done exactly what I have always wished more commercial stars would do. Though it may be a bit early, I think he's got a hit.
