Missing Milwaukee: The Lost Buildings of Downtown

Whether you're a history buff or just a fan of architechture, there's an abundance of both in Downtown Milwaukee.

Unfortunately, during the late 1960's throughthe early 1980's, many of the historic buildings downtown were demolished or renovated beyond recognition.

We met one man working to document these precious memories for future generations. Yance Marti is a Civil Engineer for the city of Milwaukee. For the last five years, he's been writing the blog oldmilwaukee.net. More recently, he's collected stories and previously unpublished photos for his book, Missing Milwaukee: The Lost Buildings of Downtown

Yance combines historical facts with vintage photos of buildings that have been demolished, taken by local photographers Alan Magayne-Roshak and Gordy Simons.

This September 22nd & 23rd, Yance is teaming up with Historic Milwaukee, Inc. during their " Open Doors Milwaukee" event to give a walking tour highlighting some of the buildings featured in his book.
