When I first heard Diplo's groundbreaking album back in 2004 called Florida, this cat is going to be huge. Now Diplo has produced for everyone and their moms including big artist such as No Doubt, and Beyonce. However, it is the "underground" productions that have always attacted me, and his love for true global music discovery. Unfortunately, I was always waiting for a follow-up to that debut release many moons ago. I thought Diplo was scared of the sophomore jinx. As of yesterday, My concerns were proven wrong. Diplo announced that he will release a follow-up to Florida sometime in 2013.
To show he is not kidding around, Diplo dropped a track from that forthcoming, yet to be titled album. The track called "About That Life" is a complete sonic departure from what he has been doing these past few years. According to Pitchfork, Diplo describes the new album as "psychedelic Southern gospel." The track also features Jahan Lennon, who is from Popo and on Diplo's label Mad Decent.
