Mitchell Park Domes Holiday Happenings

Marketing Director Peter Lepkowski explains what's going on at the domes this holiday.

The Mitchell Park Domes last week unveiled its new holiday exhibit Let It Snow.

At the center of its seasonal show dome is a towering 40-foot natural holiday tree.  Harvested from Mitchell Park and beautifully decorated, it sets the scene for a larger-than-life holiday display.

More than 1,000 live poinsettias are scattered throughout the climate-controlled dome, making for a beautiful backdrop for holiday photos.  Patrons can also pose in front of 11 handcrafted snowmen, designed by the Dome's own artist.

Every weekend leading up to Christmas, the Domes provides live entertainment, including acoustic singer-songwriters and local choirs.  And every Thursday, the Domes presents Music Under Glass, a concert series syncronized with a vibrant light show.

Besides the seasonal dome, the tropical and desert domes remain open year-round.  Admission for adults is $6.50, and $5 for children and seniors.   Let It Snow runs through January 6.
