Last week, funk music lost a true pioneer. Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner, the frontman of the Ohio Players died on January 28th at the age of 69. The Ohio Players topped music charts in the 1970s with hits such as "Love Rollercoaster," ''Fire," ''Skin Tight" and "Funky Worm."
Many of these hits, and other b-sides, became immortalized in the sampling of the their grooves. This week we will look at some of those grooves.
In 1976, the Ohio Players dropped a gem called "Far East Mississippi" on the album CONTRADICTION.
This track was sampled by the Dust Brothers for Beck on the song "Hell Yes"
