Mount Mary College's Professional Etiquette Boot Camp

About 60 first generation college students learned the basics of professionalism last week at Mount Mary College's Professional Etiquette Boot Camp.

The event gave students tips on selecting a professional wardrobe, dining, and networking -- all to increase their self-confidence as they progress toward graduation.

Students participated in a number of interactive workshops that provided them hands-on experience with these important professional skills, and they also had the opportunity to practice their networking skills with professionals from various companies in the Milwaukee area.

"Many individuals who are first in their families to go to college or who come from low-income backgrounds face career development, financial, and social or cultural challenges during their time in college and are anxious about their future employment," said organizer Nicole M. Scher-Hubing.

The Promise Plus Project, funded by the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, offers students several resources to help overcome these challenges and increase students' success in higher education and the workplace.
