Since Mumford & Sons are huge favorites here at 88Nine, I thought I'd share an awesome cover of Mumford & Sons' "Heavy Feet." I came across it the other day and it's also the latest from Malawian artist Esau Mwamwaya's collaboration with producer Radioclit called The Very Best.
The Very Best is no stranger to covering songs that on the surface might not be in their particular veign of sunny afropop. They've done similar things with M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" and Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" but Mumford and Sons is about as European as it gets. In short order TVB made it "theirs" by re-imaging it completely and re-penning the lyrics with what I believe to be the Chewa dialect. This y'all is a great way to cover a song...
