Rasta and pasta always sounded like it should be in the same sentence and now that Italian reggae artist Alborosie has finally released his 2nd album Sound The System, I knew the time was al dente. Jokes aside, you'd be forgiven for doubting the quality of this Jamaican import; that is until you hear him. With a patois that sounds pretty perfect, Sicilian-born Alberto D'Ascola, better known by his stage name Alborosie, has scored a solid from me on his latest.
A defender of Rasta culture and tradition is evident in his roots-oriented approach to dancehall reggae with themes ranging from the social to the spiritual with an emphasis on consiousness and positivity. He also gets the opportunity to cover a classic Marley tune with Bob's son Ky-Mani Marley on the tune I played at noon, "Zion Train."
