Hundreds of veterans gathered at the War Memorial along Lake Michigan last week for a job fair geared specifically to them.
More than 70 employers were on hand, some offering interviews and hiring on the spot.
The fair was presented in partnership with the Milwaukee County Veterans Service Office, the Zablocki VA Medical Center and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
It was the tenth job fair of its kind.
The County hosts job fairs like these twice a year, both in October and March.
For vets who may have missed the fair, there are other employment services available at the Milwaukee County Veterans Service Office. Representatives from the Department of Workforce Development are able to meet with jobseekers on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6419 W. Greenfield Ave.
The VA Medical Center also offers a variety of mental health services for those suffering from PTSD and depression, which can sometimes keep veterans from finding work. For more about those services, contact Andy Kendrickson, a veteran and registered nurse, at (414) 384-2000, extension 42442.
