Sustainability Week kicked off in Milwaukee Monday.
Now through Friday, October 11, the City of Milwaukee Office of Environmental Sustainability will host events to introduce its new ReFresh Milwaukee plan.
The plan addresses city systems such as water, transportation, land use, energy and food.
Here's what's coming up this week:
Tuesday, 10/8
11:30 am: Lunch and Lecture at the Milwaukee Public Museum
Learn about Milwaukee's growing solar program. Lecture tickets are $5 and can be purchased at (414) 278-2728.
5-7 pm: Discover ReFreshMKE, Discover The Valley! at the Urban Ecology Center (Menomonee Valley)
Explore the Urban Ecology Center's new branch in the Menomonee Valley with bike rides, beer tasting and building tours.
Wednesday, 10/9, 5:30-8 pm
H-2-the-izzo: There's Water In My Booze at Great Lakes Distillery
Learn about Milwaukee's innovative H20Score program and explore UWM's School of Freshwater Sciences. The event will have complimentary green tours, specialty cocktails, tastings, and food from Blue Jacket and Braise.
Thursday, 10/10 5:30-7:30 pm
What's In Your Beer? Coffee, Tea, and Sunshine at the Milwaukee Brewing Company
Tour Milwaukee's first solar brewery with featured tastings of local collaborations, Anodyne Brown and O-Gii. Sip coffee, tea, & beer, check out the Clock Shadow building and Andoyne's brand new location. Milwaukee food trucks will be on hand as well.
Friday, 10/11 4-6 pm
Revitalize & ReFresh: Cultural Sustainability and Milwaukee's Future at Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub
Exploration the nation’s first LEED-certified redevelopment. Enjoy complimentary appetizers and Central Waters Brewery tastings, as well as drink specials from Jackson's. There will be walking tours of the redevelopment and Mayor Tom Barrett will be on hand to share his vision for Milwaukee sustainability moving forward.
