Four ladies of French Pop

Tuesday on Sound Travels we had a gang of  chanteuses starting the hours of the midday. Mélanie Pain in the 10 hour with the title cut from a 2012 release called "7 ou 8 fois." Pain is probly better known for her work in the collaborative effort that is also known as Nouvelle Vague. The Caen-based singer has her own solo stuff though too and is intriguing as well. The Tune I played was très indie, et très bien. Meanwhile, the 11 spot was a short-but-sweet nibble on a Marianne Dissard tune. Dissard's distinctly American-chanson style is striking, sweet and on the song I played, just a bit of that jazz manouche vibe.

Noon was a return to Banda Magda, a very light and sugary pop from a new group on the scene. The song "L'amore T'es La" is not new on Sound Travels but was definitely worth another spin before the weather makes it's sunniness and optimism obsolete. We ended the day's travelling with the superb folk-pop sounds of the duo Felipeche, composed of Charlotte Savary and Philippe Chevallier. Don't know too much but they're worth checking out.
