Art vs Craft connects Milwaukee to it's Artists

This November, Milwaukee's Art vs Craft celebrated a huge milestone...their 10 Year Anniversary. Spawned by the desire to showcase Milwaukee's young, local artists and DIY crafters, Art vs Craft brings close to 100 vendors together as a one-stop shopping experience for those of us hungry for one-of-a-kind handmade goodies.

So why would Faythe Levine, founder and producer of Art vs Craft call it quits after 10 successful years? "I don't think things have to last forever," Levine says. "I think people are confused why I would stop something that was so successful. I think it's beneficial to end on a high note and make room for other things to grow."

While other art/craft fairs such as  Hovercraft have grown in popularity the last few years, for many, Art vs Craft will always evoke special memories. "I'm so proud of what she built here as a legacy in Milwaukee, because it will continue to grow," says Beth Bojarski, a Milwaukee-based painter. Karen Woshinski, another shopper I met at this year's Art vs Craft captures the unique energy found at Art vs Craft, "It's one of those amazing collective experiences that takes us back to what we all appreciate as human beings."

Check out the story above to hear from another shopper and local metal culpturer Mark Winter and two artists ( Matt Cipov and Jimbot) who have show their work at Art vs Craft every year for almost a decade.
