Earth Month at Urban Ecology Center

It's a whole lot more than Earth Day.  Think Earth  Month.

For the first time ever, Milwaukee's three Urban Ecology Center branches will be hosting a series of earth friendly events during the month of April.

If you're looking for a volunteer opportunity, you can roll up your sleeves and clean up litter in Milwaukee parks and rivers.  Or if a classroom environment is more your style, the UEC is hosting classes in gardening and hydrology, plus it will offer walking tours of Jones Island and Hubbard Park.

Each branch has its own focus.  At the Riverside Park location the theme is water.  At Washington Park, you can learn about food, and at the Menomonee Valley branch the theme is healthy living.

The month kicks off with a free pancake breakfast on April 5 at the Washington Park branch.

The month wraps up with the Earth Day of Service on April 26 where people can volunteer in the park and share a meal afterward.

Visit its official website for a calendar of events.
