The latest Soul Jazz Records compilation, Gipsy Rhumba: The Original Rhythm of Gipsy Rhumba in Spain 1965-1974 proved to be the missing link in my collection of Gipsy rumba music. As with most Soul Jazz compilations, the music curated on this release is as impeccable as it is dope, and it really got me in the mood to craft a mixtape of not only vintage material, but some fine examples of newer material. A number of songs on this excellent comp made it to the mixtape. Legends and unknowns share this mix that is muy caliente y rico con sabor ( trans. fresh)! Psychedelia, rock, hip hop and electronic elements undergirded by the unmistakable rumba sounds from Spain in a mix that connects some dots and left even me wanting more. If you missed the mix...
