The Bike Federation of Wisconsin will travel to 5 different Milwaukee locations this summer, teaching kids the importance of bicycle safety. Organized and sponsored by The Friends of the Hank Aaron State Trail, these two-week courses show kids living in the city how to ride safely in the streets. The first day is spent in the classroom, going over all the rules of the road. Once the kids know those, they go outside and practice their hand signals, stopping and starting. Since the camps began in 2008, over 500 kids have enjoyed exploring their city on a bike.
"We introduce kids to the Hank Aaron State Trail," says Barb Blick of the Bike Fed of WI. "There is so much in bloom at the trail. We take it east to the lake and we can take it west along the Menomonee River."

Summer Bike Camps are made possible from a partnership between The Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail, Wisconsin Bike Fed, The Nancy Sellars Memorial Foundation and Waterstone Bank. The 15th Annual Hank Aaron State Trail 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, August 9th is a major fundraising source for these bike camps.
