Free hotline offers social services to WI residents

Most people learn at an early age to dial 9-1-1 for emergency services from police or fire departments. Did you know there's a similar number that connects U.S. residents to information for social services? That number is 2-1-1.

IMPACT 2-1-1 connects residents of Southeastern Wisconsin with services including emergency shelters, health and dental clinics, food pantries, and utility bill payment assistance. With a simple phone call to 2-1-1, residents in need have access to over 1,470 agencies that provide over 14,000 services. Community specialists respond to upwards of 350 calls a day, confidentially helping clients with their needs as they assess situations and connect callers to appropriate resources.

In addition to the hotline, IMPACT offers in-house family servies that "help restore the health and productivity of individuals, organizations and worplaces, leading to an improved quality of life for the entire community".

Learn more about the resources IMPACT 2-1-1 provides by listening to the story in the player above or visit them online at impactinc.org.
