New nonprofit helping foster kids and families
A new social service organization is helping children and youth who have been the victims of abuse to live better lives, filling service gaps in the complicated foster care system.
The Milwaukee Center for Children and Youth focuses on restorative justice, trust building and character development. Founders Cyrus Behroozi and Michele Wink formed the orgaization in 2012 after leaving positions with the Department of Children and Families and Department of Justice, respectively.
The center works with young people of all ages, from 0 to 18. Wink says each age group has its own needs, and the center customizes its approach to suit each client.
