Milwaukee Messenger Invitational celebrates 14 years of races with another one

Bike season is year round in Milwaukee, but it's definitely gotten a bit better with temperatures hitting a balmy 50 degrees all week. In fact, this weekend might be the best of the young year weather-wise and if you take your riding for real, you can put your skills to the test with one of the first races of the year: the Milwaukee Messenger Invitational.

The MMI is an annual alley-cat style race held by Breakaway Bicycle Couriers (224A West Wells St., Milwaukee) that happens on St. Patrick's Day. This year, they're celebrating the golden anniversary of the event Saturday (March 14) at noon at Breakaway's downtown headquarters.

Peep the race details on Facebook and head out if you're looking for a different way to celebrate St. Patrick's. If this turns out like the one I went to many years back, it'll be hella fun and a great way to meet the people that are a big part of urban cycling in Milwaukee.

Prizes are given to race winners and I fully expect the race to become a party at some point...
