Rhythm Lab Radio Song Of The Week | Kendrick Lamar, "How Much A Dollar Cost"

This week’s song, “How Much A Dollar Cost," comes from one of the most anticipated albums of 2015, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly.  The album not only lives up to the hype, but it is one of the most personal and powerful hip hop releases that I have heard in very long time.

Kendrick’s revives the art of storytelling in hip hop in a way that is cinematic, especially in the song “How Much A Dollar Cost.”  Featuring James Fauntleroy and the legendary Ron Isley, “How Much A Dollar Cost” finds Kendrick having a conversation with god, who takes form of a homeless man. Pair that with moving music and a sample that sounds like Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song,” you have one of my favorite tracks from Kendrick’s new album.

Take a listen to Kendrick Lamar’s “How Much A Dollar Cost.” It is Rhythm Lab Radio’s Song of the Week.

Just announced: Kendrick Lamar will play Summerfest on July 1.
