United Way recruits 4,800 local volunteers to read to children

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County last week organized a two-day Reading Blitz throughout Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties to highlight the success of exceeding its goal of reaching 4,800+ reader, tutor, and mentor volunteers in the Milwaukee Metro area.

In a culminating celebration at the Milwaukee Public Library's Centennial Hall, United Way hosted a celebration with children's author Marc Brown, creator of the popular children’s series Arthur, to promote reading to children.

The local United Way is always looking for volunteer readers and mentors.  To find out how to get involved, visit its  official website here.
