Robotics Week at Discovery World

To celebrate National Robotics Week, Discovery World teamed up with Rockwell Automation to host a "robot invasion" on the promenade at Discovery World. Robots of all shapes and sizes were on display, all built by local FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Teams. "All the teams here are part of schools, after school programs or Boys and Girls Clubs," says Kevin Kolodziej, Automation Educator at Discovery World. "We have FIRST Lego Teams which is elementary school children that built robots out of Legos." Kevin says having this program allows kids to talk to students that designed the robots to see how fun engineering can be.

Listen to the story above to hear more from Caitlin, a 12-year old from East Troy. She's a founding member of Patronum Bots, an all-girls FIRST team from East Troy. Shortly after this interview, Patronum Bots headed off to St. Louis to compete with 128 other teams in the FIRST World Championships. See how they did here.
