'Shakespeare in the Park' returns to Milwaukee

William Shakespeare's  A Midsummer Night's Dream is coming to Milwaukee this weekend, kicking off a run of eight outdoor performances at  Kadish Park in the Brewer's Hill neighborhood.

Optimist Theater Company presents Shakespeare in the Park every year in Milwaukee.  This is the sixth season for the not-for-profit theater group, which has evolved from performing at a small stage at Alverno College to the stunning new Selig-Joseph-Folz Amphitheater overlooking the Milwaukee River.

All performances are free and open to the public.

Midsummer runs approximately two hours -- with an intermission -- July 9-12 and 16-19.  The show starts at 8 p.m., but Managing Director Susan Scot Fry recommends arriving as early at 6 p.m. to get a good spot.
