Milwaukee's WebsterX 'digs deep' on his latest video for the song "Lately"

Milwaukee's WebsterX is definitely one of the city's rising stars.  It has been nice to see him grow as an artist since his 2013 breakout mixtape "Desperate Youth."   WebsterX's most recent track "Lately" definitely illustrates his growth both lyrically and sonically as an artist.

Today, WebsterX shares the visuals for the track "Lately." The video, directed by Cody Laplant and Damien Klaven, is a contender for best music video of the year. The video was filmed in part in Cudahy. Also on a family farm in Oregon, WI owned by the family of WebsterX's friend Ellison Snider.

The concept of the video, as described by Webster X in an email, is about pulling yourself out of your own grave and being welcomed by a new world full of friends, who are there to help.  He also told me that it was very reflective of his past depression after the release of his first mixtape.  The video also features members from NAN (New Age Narcissism) collective, of which he is member.  WebsterX also told me that he would love to turn the concept and the video into something for the Milwaukee Ballet.
