As documented in Cameron Crowe's film "Almost Famous," Billy Crudup's character called himself a "Golden God" atop a roof in Topeka, Kansas. Crowe admitted, in press related to the film, that it was actually Robert Plant who uttered those words. Well, the Golden God turns 67 today. For the Shadow, I chose one of my fave Zeppelin tunes, "The Ocean."
We get our cover from an unlikely source, folkie Laura Viers, who you might expect to handle Zep's folkier stuff but she nails "The Ocean" pretty well. We don't have video, but Sterogum has the song.
