Milwaukee's IshDARR is the nom de guerre of 19-year-old Ishmael Ali. Quickly rising from his Messmer High School group NoNam3, Ali is helping raise the Milwaukee hip-hop scene to a national audience.
Part of the rise is due to shout outs from an actor's Twitter account, national blogs like The Source and Complex, featured tracks on Apple's Beats 1 radio, and this week; cracking the Spotify U.S. Viral 50 charts.
The rapper is appealing with the tag line "Old Soul + Young Spirit," which aptly describes the combination of old-school hip-hop with a youthful, easy swagger delivered with an approachable gap-toothed smile.
