Back in April, we gave you the chance to “Get to Know” Friko via a quick Q&A covering everything from the music they heard in their childhood homes to the artists they can’t stop listening to. They closed out by saying of Milwaukee, “Hopefully we can shoot up there sometime in the near future.”
The near future, it seems, is here — or almost here anyway — because the Chicago outfit will be at Cactus Club on Dec. 9 as part of a Wisconsin-specific trip that’ll also take them to Madison’s High Noon Saloon the following night.
The duo of frontman Niko Kapetan and drummer Bailey Minzenberger have enjoyed a solid 2023, pulling in big crowds at SXSW in Austin and following it up with the release of single “Crimson to Chrome.” The track was applauded for “carrying on the great Chicago musical tradition of unpretentious fun,” as Consequence put it, adding that “few bands are building to such furious crescendos.”
Friko will bring those well-deserved plaudits to the storied Milwaukee venue for their 7 p.m. show with openers She’s Green and Interlay. Tickets are $15 and available online now.
