Lowell George died on this day in 1979

On this day in 1979, Lowell George died in his Arlington, VA hotel room. He was 34.

George was in Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention and later, Little Feat, with whom he recorded and played from 1969-1979. Robert Palmer covered George's "Spanish Moon" a few years later. Oddly, both men died prematurely of heart attacks.

Worth noting: MC 990 Ft. Jesus used the rhythm track from Little Feat's version as the base for "The City Sleeps."

Here's Little Feat's "Spanish Moon."
