Just a few weeks ago, we noted the 25th Anniversary of the death of Stevie Ray Vaughn, which happened not far from Milwaukee. While we celebrate the birthday of Otis Redding today, we can't forget that he too perished in Wisconsin, in a plane crash. One of his songs, "Hard To Handle" didn't see release until after his death, it wasn't quite the monster hit that some of his other songs that were released when he was alive, it did see new life as a cover in Grateful Dead sets and in the movie "The Commitments" but perhaps, most notably, as a hit single on The Black Crowes debut album. Dare I say the Crowes' version equalled the original? That's for you to decide.
