You might have heard Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ new single, Better Days, on 88Nine over the past month or so. The video for Better Days was released today and it makes us wish that radio had a visual component.
Directed by Michele Civetta, the video uses footage from the 1984 film Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo as well as shots from what appears to be the greatest fashion show that I have never been to. In his past two albums Edward Sharpe has been somewhat of a musical historian, grabbing onto bits of the past that will never fade away and incorporating it into the now. Michele Civetta’s video does the same thing in a visual aspect, giving the nod to NYC breakers, 80’s drag queens, and street style.
Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros will be kicking off Summerfest this year, sharing the Marcus Amphitheater with The Avett Brothers and The Violent Femmes on Wednesday, June 26th.
