Summer Soulstice has been canceled

Milwaukee's summer events calendar continues to clear out. Just hours after the city learned that this year's July 3 fireworks at the lakefront have been canceled, Summer Soulstice became the latest summer tradition to announce that it won't take place this year. The North Avenue festival had been scheduled for June 20.

"This year, because of COVID-19 implications, we made the hard decision to cancel Summer Soulstice," the organizers wrote on Facebook. "However, this event is too beloved to let pass without a tribute or acknowledgment, so we decided to host a virtual Tribute to Soulstice instead."

Summer Soulstice

"From April 27 through June 14, we'll be featuring one local East Side business per week that has supported Summer Soulstice," the post continued. "When you send in a memory (picture, video, and/or written) of a past Soulstice, you'll be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to that business. One memory = one chance to win. Send memories via Facebook, Instagram, or to intern@theeastside.org. This is an opportunity to have fun and be strategic! Choose a week to submit all your memories if you're angling for a gift certificate to a certain business, or submit memories throughout the Tribute for a chance to win a gift card to any of our 7 featured supporters!"

The event's featured supporter from April 27-May 3 is Milwaukee Film. The festival will share the user submissions it acquires on June 20, the date when the festival would have taken place.
