For this week's premiere, we've got a bittersweet pop tune indebted to '90s alternative rock from the Shorewood-born duo Noble Truth. Stream and read about "I Just Don't Wanna Be Alone Anymore" below.
Artists' statement
We're a band that formed at Shorewood High School in 2013. We've actually got no bassist, but Quinn and I met through a mutual friend at that time and quickly realized we were fine as a two-piece. The moment we found out we shared interests in Nirvana, Elliott Smith, Smashing Pumpkins and Muse, we hit it off. and began crafting songs together.
We've released a total of four albums under my full name Tristan Blum and NobleTruth (one word) on Spotify and iTunes. Quinn is a fiercely intelligent analytic type who recently graduated from the University of Minnesota, while I got my BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Nevertheless, we're both Wisconsin weirdos who take inspiration from '90s alternative and do our best to recreate the angst and frustration of that era in modern times.
Fun fact: I (Tristan Blum) learned how to compose by learning every song of Nirvana's "Nevermind" and dissecting the song structure. Quinn McCafferty (drummer) is also the protegé of John Sparrow, drummer for Milwaukee's Violent Femmes.
