WebsterX returns with a hopeful new single, 'Huffy'

If WebsterX has seemed unusually quiet the last year or two, that's about to change. Today the acclaimed Milwaukee rapper has returned with a new single and video called "Huffy," a teaser for an upcoming album that he's been working on for quite a while.

Expectations are high -- WebsterX helped raise the bar for local rap videos with his cinematic accompaniments to breakout singles like " Doomsday" -- but "Huffy" lives up to them. Its Cody LaPlant-directed video is a thing of understated beauty, while the song itself radiates hope even as it hints at trauma and societal scars.

"Took me back to riding my Huffy through the hood," Web raps on the chorus. Our world may be damaged, but life's simple pleasures endure.
